Applications are now open for the 2025-26 Accelerating Trade Grant Program, continuing the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to helping local businesses expand into mainland and global markets.

Now in its seventh year, this successful initiative helps Tasmanian businesses collaborate, expand their presence and introduce our world-class products and services to domestic and overseas markets.

Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the program was a key part of the Government’s commitment to strengthening Tasmania’s trade.

“Trade is a key driver of our economic strength and a foundation for Tasmanian jobs as we work together to move our State forward,” Minister Barnett said.

“This program helps our businesses take the next step, whether that’s attending a trade show in Australia or overseas, launching a digital marketing campaign in a new market or hosting potential buyers here in Tasmania.

“Previous recipients have reported increased trade of more than $34 million as a result of funded activities and significantly enhanced brand awareness.”

The program provides grants of up to 50 per cent of eligible costs for off-island marketing and promotional activities.

Minister Barnett said successful applicants could receive up to $10,000 in grant assistance.

“We’ve seen firsthand how this program helps businesses grow, expand their market awareness and succeed,” Minister Barnett said.

“I encourage eligible businesses to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to accelerate their trade potential.”

Accelerating Trade Grant Program funding can be used for activities such as trade events and exhibitions, market research, business matching services, inbound buyer visits and digital marketing campaigns in key export markets.

In 2024-25, the program supported 70 Tasmanian businesses to promote their brands and increase sales across mainland Australia and in key export markets including China, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom.
