Applications open soon for Round 3 of the High Priority Infrastructure Grants Program, aimed at reducing the waste going into landfill.
The Tasmanian Government and the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board have already supported two rounds of projects that contribute towards building a circular economy.
Minister for Environment, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the grants support projects that improve the capability, capacity and availability of waste and resource recovery infrastructure in Tasmania.
“The $5 million Round 3 will support industry, local government, community and not-for-profit projects,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“Our Government is delivering for Tasmania, with the Program supporting 27 projects since 2024, including community recycling centres, tip shops and new food organics collection services for businesses.
“We will continue working together to move our state forward when Round 3 opens for applications on 26 November 2025.”
Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board Chair Pam Allan said this grant program was just one of the initiatives established by the Waste and Resource Recovery Board to invest the landfill levy.
“Having a grant program specifically targeted to support high priority waste and resource recovery infrastructure allows us to continue our work towards creating a Tasmania where nothing is wasted,” she said.
Round 3 will open for applications at 11am on 26 November 2025 and close at 5pm on 30 January 2026.
To provide additional support and information for applicants, two online information sessions will be held at 11am on 12 November and 3 December 2025.
Key details including how to attend the online info sessions and how to apply are available on the HPI Grants Round 3 SmartyGrants page: https://nre.smartygrants.com.au/HighPriorityInfrastructureGrantsRound3
