Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs
The Tasmanian Government is putting its support behind the Migrant Resource Centre’s Big Tassie Walk this October.
Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Government has provided a $7,500 contribution towards the fundraising efforts.
“Tasmania is home to people from countries across the world, with one in every five Tasmanians born overseas,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“Our communities are becoming increasingly diverse and this enriches our State.
“Our Government has always supported our multicultural communities, and together with the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania we are working together to foster greater social inclusion and address racism.
“When we support our communities we build a stronger society, and one that celebrates diversity.
“We are delivering for Tasmanians by working with the community to deal with the challenges they face with compassion and commonsense.”
The Big Tassie Walk is a month-long walking and fundraising challenge that is about honouring our diversity and showing up for others.
