Bridget Archer, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing

Thousands of Tasmanian allied health professionals are being recognised for their contribution to patient care on International Allied Health Professions Day.

Tasmania employs more than 1700 allied health professionals across its major hospitals, district hospitals and community health centres.

Thousands more allied health professionals work across other government agencies, private providers and community organisations.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said allied health professionals are a vital part of the Tasmanian health system.

“Allied health professionals represent the second largest health professional workforce in the public system,” Minister Archer said.

“From radiation therapists to physiotherapy and pharmacy to podiatry, allied health professionals play an essential part in the journey of every health consumer.

“They provide specialised care and support for people of all ages, including children, older people, people with chronic illnesses or mental ill-health, and those experiencing disability.

“Our Government is working together with our allied health professionals to move our state forward and to provide the healthcare that Tasmanians deserve.

“As Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, I want to say a big thank you for everything you do individually and collectively to support the Tasmanian health system.”
