Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs
Ten community organisations have received funding to celebrate and promote the contribution of carers across Tasmania during National Carers Week.
Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Carers Small Grants Program attracted strong interest from organisations working with and supporting carers statewide.
“The grants program recognises and values the vital role of carers, providing support and opportunities for them to connect with fellow carers and their communities,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“When we work together, helping Tasmanians deal with the challenges they face with compassion and commonsense, we move our state forward.”
Funding has been awarded to the following organisations to support events celebrating National Carers Week, from 12 to 18 October 2025:
- Kickstart Arts;
- Mental Health Families and Friends Tasmania;
- Geeveston Community Centre;
- Better Health 4 Dorset;
- Live Well Tasmania;
- Wellways Australia;
- West Moonah Community Action Group;
- Rokeby Neighbourhood Centre;
- Meals on Wheels Association of Tasmania; and
- George Town Neighbourhood House.
“More than 87,000 Tasmanians care for a family member or friend,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“Carers deserve our respect and recognition for the extraordinary contribution they make, not just to those they care for, but to the people they care for, as well as the whole community.
“National Carers Week is an important opportunity to highlight their efforts, raise awareness of the challenges they face and celebrate the difference carers make every day.”
