Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
The expansion of accommodation at the Mt Field Retreat has boosted the tourism experience for even more visitors to Tasmania.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, joined business owners Greg and Rachel Power to officially open the new accommodation pods, which were made possible through the Tasmanian Government’s Regional Tourism Development Loan Scheme.
“The Powers have added eight accommodation pods to their offering, just two years after opening their retreat to visitors to the Derwent Valley,” Minister Howlett said.
“The scheme is part of the 2030 Tasmanian Visitor Economy Strategy, which provides a long-term vision for the state’s tourism sector.
“The Tasmanian Government is delivering for Tasmanians by providing tourism operators the confidence to bring forward investment, diversify and grow their businesses.
“Growing their businesses helps regional tourism operators to play their role in helping Tasmania to reach our goal of 1.6 million interstate visitors and 400,000 international visitors by 2030.
“This is important as one in six Tasmanian jobs are supported by our tourism and hospitality sector.
“Our Government is committed to investing in regional tourism, ensuring our economy, regions and way of life continue to thrive.”
