Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning
The final order for the redevelopment of the Macquarie Point Precinct has been made in line with it being declared a Project of State Significance.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, recommended Her Excellency as Governor-in-Council make an Order, with conditions, allowing the development to proceed.
The Order was developed collaboratively across multiple agencies, regulators and organisations, with all members of Parliament consulted as part of the process.
The final order is primarily based on the draft permit conditions provided to the Commission Panel in July 2025 and reflects the significant contributions from all involved parties.
Minister Vincent said the project will:
- generate benefits for the entire Tasmanian community;
- realise the dream of securing Tasmania’s own AFL/AFLW team; and
- create a vibrant place for gathering, celebrating and reflection through the arts, culture, sports, events and entertainment.
It is important to note that while the order has been made by Her Excellency, under the State Policies and Projects Act 1993 it will have no effect until it has been considered and approved by both Houses of Parliament.
I look forward to working with all members of the Parliament to see this project realised.
