Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The Tasmanian Government is encouraging people who received an Eat Local, Stay Local voucher to experience a nice meal, get away for a short break or enjoy a tourism experience before 30 November.

There were 58,000 Eat Local, Stay Local vouchers issued on 1 September 2025 to eligible registered Tasmanians.

Minister for Tourism, Events and Hospitality, Jane Howlett, said Eat Local, Stay Local was giving Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality industry a valuable boost while also helping with the cost of going out for families.

“I’ve had amazing feedback from both voucher recipients and businesses on this program,” Minister Howlett said.

“Operators have benefited from an extra boost in patronage and Tasmanians have been given an incentive to spend in our visitor economy.

“We are delivering for Tasmania by stimulating our economy and backing in our businesses.

“For every dollar spent in the state’s tourism and hospitality sector, another 83 cents is generated in Tasmania’s economy.”

Hospitality Tasmania CEO Steve Old backed Minister Howlett’s comments.

“Eat Local, Stay Local has delivered exactly what our sector needs – people through the doors, regional spending, and real support for operators working hard during shoulder season,” Mr Old said.

“When locals get out and enjoy what’s on offer, everyone wins.”

Voucher recipients have until Sunday, 30 November 2025 to purchase and complete an eligible activity. Voucher claims can be lodged until Friday, 16 January 2026.
