Bridget Archer, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing

More than 5,000 Tasmanians have shared their ideas and experiences as part of the first round of consultation on the 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the response shows how much Tasmanians care about prevention.

“Tasmanians want a future where we plan for wellness, not just respond to illness,” Minister Archer said.

“We’ve heard from communities, workplaces and households right across the State, and this feedback will now help us draft a strategy to make these ideas a reality.

“The consultation highlighted the importance of making healthy choices easier, creating safe and liveable environments, supporting earlier help closer to home, and investing in prevention for the long term.

“Contributors also outlined the need for connected communities, a skilled prevention workforce, and good data for decision making.

“This Strategy belongs to every community, every workplace and every household that wants a healthier, fairer future.

“By working together, we can move our state forward and give Tasmanians the chance to live their best possible life.”

Feedback from Round 1 will shape the draft Strategy, which will be released later in 2025 for public feedback.
