Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

Eric Abetz, Treasurer

Tasmania's economy has recorded the highest per capita growth of any state in ABS data released today.

The latest data shows Tasmania's economy is now worth a record $42.8 billion, growing by 1 per cent.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff hailed the figures as proving the government’s economic growth plan is working.

"Our economy continues to grow, we have the strongest business confidence, and record low unemployment," the Premier said.

"Tasmania posted the highest per capita growth of any state around the country - meaning more Tasmanians than ever before are benefiting from our strong economy."

Treasurer Eric Abetz welcomed this latest round of good news.

"This latest increase means the Liberal Government has grown our economy by approximately $9.2 billion over the last 11 years," the Treasurer said.

"This means more jobs and opportunity for our fellow Tasmanians, helping them put food on the table.

"We want to see this positive growth continue and will continue to work together to move our state forward."
