Attracting and retaining high quality content across Tasmania’s sporting and entertainment precincts, is the focus of a new content strategy.
Tasmania’s Major Venue Content Strategy, developed by Stadiums Tasmania, was released today.
Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said release of the content strategy is an important step in capitalising on what Tasmania has to offer.
“We want to maximise the opportunities within Tasmanian venues to attract events and content across a range of sectors,” Minister Duigan said.
“This piece of work provides a vital addition to the work being done as part of the broader visitor economy to ensure Tasmania’s stadiums and entertainment precincts deliver maximum value for the community and economy.
“Stadiums Tasmania undertook an extensive statewide consultation process, engaging key stakeholders from the sport, tourism, hospitality, and entertainment sectors.
“Stakeholders expressed strong support for a strategic approach to content acquisition that optimises venue usage and drives economic benefits for Tasmania.
“The Strategy will help to position our venues as premier destinations for major events, driving significant economic, cultural, and social benefits.”
Stadiums Tasmania CEO, James Avery, said the strategy highlights the value in maximising the usage of what are important community venues.
“The venues within Stadiums Tasmania’s current and future portfolio are important community assets that bring people together for a diverse range of events and experiences,” Mr Avery said.
“We are committed to ensuring the use of these venues are optimised at all times, particularly through community and international sporting events and local and national live entertainment and community events.
“This strategy seeks to establish a forward-looking framework that can be implemented in conjunction with Events Tasmania and Tourism Tasmania to retain key events already on the Tasmanian calendar in addition to delivering new and exciting events we haven’t previously seen across the state.”
