Guy Barnett, Attorney-General

The Public Trustee’s 2024–25 Annual Report has been tabled, highlighting a year of strong financial performance, improved client outcomes, and continued progress on cultural and operational reforms.

Attorney-General, Guy Barnett, commended the Public Trustee for their commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.

“The Public Trustee has delivered an impressive turnaround, reporting a net operating profit after tax of $293,000, compared to a loss of $2.58 million in the previous year,” the Attorney said.

“This result reflects sound financial management, increased estate administration activity, and a fully funded Community Service Obligations agreement with our Government.

“The Public Trustee continues to play a vital role in supporting vulnerable Tasmanians, with over 1,300 represented persons and more than 2,200 estate beneficiaries supported in 2025.

“The report also highlights the successful implementation of 27 out of 28 recommendations from the Independent Review into the Public Trustee, with the final recommendation expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

“The Public Trustee’s focus on modernising legacy systems will ensure it continues to deliver high-quality services to Tasmanians well into the future.

“Our Government is delivering for Tasmanians, proudly supporting the Public Trustee’s transformation which has resulted in improved client engagement, stronger cyber security, and enhanced staff satisfaction.”
