Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs

A new five-year strategy that aims to see a Tasmania where all people are safe, healthy, visible and valued has been launched today.
Our Inclusive Island: Tasmania’s LGBTIQA+ Strategy 2025-2030 is a framework to address the unique challenges faced by LGBTIQA+ people.
Minister for Community and Multicultural Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the strategy was developed in close consultation with the Tasmanian LGBTIQA+ community, advocacy organisations and service providers.
“The Tasmanian Government is committed to advancing equality for all Tasmanians,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“Achieving meaningful change requires coordinated action and this strategy brings all Tasmanian Government agencies together to build on the work we have achieved so far, our existing investment and to work in partnership toward our shared vision.
“We thank our community partners Equality Tasmania and Working It Out for their invaluable expertise in shaping this strategy.
“We also extend our gratitude to the more than 800 community members who participated in the Government-commissioned survey which informed the Telling Us the Story report.
“This is such important input and reflects and honours the voices and experiences of all those who contributed.”
The strategy will be underpinned by a five-year action plan.
