Guy Barnett, Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs
Tasmanian small businesses now have access to a free online tool to help them prepare for and manage unexpected emergencies.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the Emergency Ready Business tool simplifies the process of creating a business continuity plan.
“It guides users through a step-by-step survey to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities. The tool then generates a tailored action plan that helps businesses respond effectively,” Minister Barnett said.
“We’re proud to have delivered this tool to help small businesses strengthen their resilience in the face of increasing risks.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we want to help them be ready for whatever challenges come their way.
“We’ve seen how emergency events can catch businesses off guard. This tool removes the complexity from continuity planning and helps the business to take proactive steps.
“Investing a small amount of time in planning now could save businesses significant stress and loss in the future.”
Developed in collaboration with local design and technology studio Neon Jungle, the tool was co-funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Disaster Risk Reduction Grants Program.
Neon Jungle Design Director, Luke Morgan, said the focus was on making the tool accessible and user-friendly.
“We set out to remove the barriers that often make emergency planning seem too hard,” he said.
“The result is a practical tool that helps any business build a plan they can put into action.”
Minister Barnett said this is another example of our Government working together with industry to deliver for Tasmania.
The Emergency Ready Business tool is free and available to all Tasmanian businesses here.
