Kerry Vincent, Minister for Housing and Planning

The value cap for new home construction through the MyHome Shared Equity Program has been raised to $800,000, delivering on a key election commitment of the Tasmanian Liberal Government.

Delivered in partnership with the Bank of Us, the Program has helped over 900 households into their own home.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Kerry Vincent, said raising the cap will open the door for more Tasmanian first home buyers.

“Having a home to call your own represents security and longevity – it’s something many of us aspire to,” Minister Vincent said.

“Our Government has backed this terrific program and worked alongside Bank of Us to support 900 Tasmanian households into home ownership.

“We are delivering for Tasmania by helping first home buyers across the State realise the great Australian dream.

“By raising this cap, we’re not just assisting home buyers, we’re stimulating the building and construction industry.”

Minister Vincent said the Government is also delivering more social and affordable homes.

“In the past 100 days we have seen more housing stock completed, including 17 new units in Geeveston and 65 new units at Queens Walk in New Town,” Minister Vincent said.

“We have also delivered a further 16 new homes under the Homes Tasmania Modular Construction Program right across the state, from Kingston to Youngtown to Devonport.”
