Jo Palmer, Minister for Education
Thousands of senior secondary students across Tasmania will sit end-of-year exams over the next two weeks.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said these exams are a significant milestone for Tasmania’s young people.
“Exams are an opportunity for students to showcase the knowledge and skills they’ve worked hard to develop,” Minister Palmer said.
“I encourage all students to believe in themselves and approach their exams with confidence. Your teachers, families, and friends are behind you, supporting you every step of the way.”
Minister Palmer said that strong educational outcomes are vital for Tasmania’s future.
“Education is the most powerful driver of economic and social success. Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future focuses on lifting literacy outcomes for all students, helping young Tasmanians reach their full potential," Minister Palmer said.
The written exam period for Tasmania’s senior secondary students in Level 3 and 4 courses starts on Monday 10 November with the exams for Geography and Mathematics Methods - Foundation and finishes on Thursday 20 November with exams for Modern History and Accounting.
More than 6,400 Tasmanian senior secondary students received a Notice of External Assessment to undertake one or more external assessments during Term 4, with oral, practical, performance and project assessments already underway.
External exams form one part of continuous assessment and play a role in measuring a student’s progress and achievement in comparison with peers across the State.
Completion of at least four Level 3 and 4 courses during Years 11 and 12 enables students to receive an overall Tertiary Entrance Score, which determines their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank.
All Year 11 and 12 students in Tasmania will receive their 2025 course results from Wednesday, 17 December.
