Following an extensive recruitment process, the Tasmanian Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Ashworth as Chief Executive of Ambulance Tasmania.
Ms Ashworth has extensive experience in emergency management leadership, most recently working as Chief Operating Officer at Triple Zero Victoria, providing strategic leadership to a workforce of 1,400 staff responsible for statewide Triple Zero call-taking and dispatch services.
Ms Ashworth has led significant system and operational reforms at Triple Zero Victoria, overseeing major investment programs that enhanced the reliability and responsiveness of emergency communications in Victoria.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, congratulated Ms Ashworth and welcomed her to the role.
“Ms Ashworth has significant experience across an extensive career in community safety, frontline service delivery, and workforce capability across emergency services and health,’’ Minister Archer said.
“Her background as an operational paramedic and emergency management expert will serve her well in this important role, giving her a strong understanding of pre-hospital care and the essential role of paramedics, call-takers, dispatchers and volunteers in delivering safe and timely emergency responses.
“The Chief Executive of Ambulance Tasmania is a vital role within our health system, and we are pleased to have secured such a high calibre candidate to take on this important position.
“I look forward to working with Ms Ashworth to continuously improve the delivery of ambulance services for all Tasmanians.
“I would also like to thank Michelle Baxter for her leadership and commitment while Acting in the role, following the resignation of the former Chief Executive earlier this year.”
Ms Ashworth will commence in her new role with Ambulance Tasmania on 5 January 2026.
