Jacquie Petrusma, Minister for Health

This National Volunteer Week, the Tasmanian Government is recognising the legion of volunteers that support the delivery of our health services throughout the State.

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said National Volunteer Week is an important opportunity to celebrate the individuals and teams who volunteer across a wide breadth of health environments.

“On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I want to sincerely thank all of our inspirational volunteers for their valued support to patients and their families, health workers and frontline services,” Minister Petrusma said.

“From volunteer ambulance officers attending emergency callouts with paramedics, to those running the kiosks, and providing meet and greet services at our hospitals, volunteers assist in a wide variety of health settings across Tasmania.

“Each and every year these dedicated individuals give up hundreds of thousands of hours of their time to foster welcoming and compassionate environments in our health services.

"Today and every day, we are so very grateful for our volunteers – their outstanding contributions are invaluable and make a real difference in the lives of Tasmanians."

Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are continuing our efforts to recruit even more dedicated healthcare workers, who alongside our volunteers, will enable Tasmanians to access the healthcare that they deserve.
