A brand new, state-of-the-art Cygnet Ambulance Station is another step closer.
Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said a preferred site for the station has been selected on Mary Street in Cygnet.
“The Tasmanian Government is delivering the critical infrastructure Ambulance Tasmania needs to bolster ambulance and paramedic services across the State,” Minister Petrusma said.
“Cygnet Ambulance Station will provide a dedicated, contemporary and purpose-built facility that will house all of Ambulance Tasmania’s requirements, with capacity for future expansion of services.
“Building the new station at Cygnet will reduce call-out response times for incidents in Cygnet and the surrounding communities.
“Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re building four new ambulance stations across Tasmania, with sites now selected for Cygnet, Legana, Snug and King Island.
“Since coming to Government, we have committed to building and upgrading 16 ambulance stations for our expanding ambulance service to ensure Tasmanians receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time.”
The Department of Health has consulted with Ambulance Tasmania and the Huon Valley Council, and is working with the property owner on the preferred lots of land at the site to deliver the new station.
Huon Valley Mayor, Sally Doyle, said critical services like this full-time ambulance station are essential for the rapidly growing community around Cygnet and the wider Huon Valley.
“Council looks forward to assisting the delivery of this welcome ambulance station,” Mayor Doyle said.
The Tasmanian Government will continue to provide updates to the local community about the next steps in delivering the Cygnet Ambulance Station.
Public consultation on the new station is expected to take place next month.
