Campbell Town District High School has officially opened its new agricultural studies facility at a celebration with students, staff and the local community.
The Tasmanian Government invested $2.25 million to build the new facility, which has significantly enhanced the school’s capacity to deliver and expand its agricultural vocational education and training (VET) programs.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the building provides students with hands-on learning experiences and marks a significant investment for regional Tasmania.
“The new agricultural studies facility is a fantastic example of how we’re investing in the future of young Tasmanians by equipping them with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in primary industries,” Minister Palmer said.
“The upgrade is part of a broader commitment by the Tasmanian Government to strengthen vocational pathways across the State, with similar upgrades recently delivered at Bothwell District School, Sheffield School and Jordan River School Farm.
“In addition to the new building, Campbell Town District High has received nearly $11,000 for new industry-standard equipment to support delivery of Certificate I and II in Agriculture.
“This funding is part of our $30 million VET Futures Fund, which is helping to develop a job-ready generation of young Tasmanians – a key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.”
Campbell Town District High was one of 36 schools to receive funding in the first round of grants under the fund.
The new facility, designed by Tasmanian firm HBV Architects in collaboration with the school and project team, was constructed by Anstie Construction.
