Leaders inducted into Tasmanian Nurses and Midwives Honour Roll

The Tasmanian Liberal Government congratulates three exceptional nursing and midwifery leaders who have today been inducted into the Tasmanian Nurses and Midwives Honour Roll.

The Honour Roll recognises nurses and midwives who were born, trained or have worked a significant period of their professional career in Tasmania and have demonstrated exceptional service above and beyond what is expected in their professional careers.

This year, the three inductees who are being recognised for their decades of outstanding service are:

• Professor Emerita Denise Fassett, retired former Executive Dean of the College of Health and Medicine at the University of Tasmania
• Adjunct Associate Professor Francine Douce, Chief Nurse and Midwife, Department of Health
• Adjunct Associate Professor Karen Linegar, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery – Hospitals and Primary Care, Department of Health

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said all three leaders are incredibly worthy inductees, having each provided several decades of service to the profession.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Denise, Francine and Karen on being inducted today,’’ Minister Petrusma said.

“Their induction is testament to their outstanding contributions over many years, with each playing a key role in enhancing nursing and midwifery in Tasmania and ensuring continued and improved service delivery throughout our State.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are continuing to bolster our healthcare workforce right across the State.”

The Tasmanian Nurses and Midwives Honour Roll was launched in 2020 during the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
