After decades of planning and more than 900 days of construction, the New Bridgewater Bridge is now only days away from opening.

The Tasmanian Government is proud to announce the new bridge will officially open to traffic from Monday, 2 June 2025, marking a significant milestone in the State’s biggest transport infrastructure project.

Minster for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said to celebrate the construction of this landmark of national significance, the local community is invited to take part in a community celebration.

“We’re inviting the community to come along to walk the bridge from 10am on Sunday, 1 June 2025, before the bridge officially opens to traffic,” Minister Vincent said.

“This once-in-a-generation project will improve travel times, increase safety and better connect the communities either side of the bridge.

“Game changing infrastructure projects like these create jobs and opportunity for Tasmanian families and are part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.

“The community celebration will feature food, live entertainment, family-friendly activities and the unique opportunity to walk across Tasmania’s biggest transport infrastructure project,” he said.

Those planning on attending the opening are encouraged to register their participation, to assist with planning and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
