Every Tasmanian household will receive energy bill relief as part of this year's Renewable Energy Dividend.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff announced the dividend payment today which will see every Tasmanian household receive $60 off their energy bills in the coming weeks.
“The Tasmanian Government continues to step in and provide cost-of-living relief to all Tasmanians,” Premier Rockliff said.
“When Hydro makes money, Tasmanians save money, and we are pleased to deliver further bill relief to all households this year so they can heat more and pay less as they head into the colder months.
“This latest energy bill relief builds on the significant concessions that are available right now through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
“We know many Tasmanian households continue to feel the pinch when it comes to cost of living, and this energy bill relief will be welcome.
“The $60 energy credit has already started hitting accounts from May 1, which is fantastic news.”
Treasurer, Guy Barnett, reiterated the Government’s commitment to leaning in and providing support to Tasmanians who need it.
“The $60 energy credit will provide important relief to families right across Tasmania," the Treasurer said.
“We know the family budget has been stretched in recent years due to rising interest rates and supermarket prices, so every dollar counts.
“In 2024-25, Tasmanian concession customers will receive up to $1,433 in electricity bill relief, which equates to 68 per cent of the total median bill for concession customers.
“For some concession customers with low usage, they will not pay an energy bill this financial year.
“Our Government will continue to do what we can to support those who need it most.”
