Preparatory works at Macquarie Point are well underway as the Tasmanian Government is full steam ahead for the construction of the Macquarie Point Precinct.
With the completion of the State’s largest ever infrastructure project nearing completion in Bridgewater, thousands of tradies can be confident with a strong pipeline of work coming their way.
Minister for Infrastructure, Kerry Vincent, said the Government’s Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Project will deliver a once in a generation precinct, offering thousands of jobs during, and after construction.
“As the $786 million Bridgewater Bridge comes to an end, it is absolutely crucial Tasmanian tradies have another exciting opportunity to go on with,” he said.
“The skills, trades and connections they have gained by being involved in these sorts of projects cannot be overstated. It is providing them with lifelong experience and benefits our State in the long-term with more experienced tradies staying and working in Tasmania.
“Projects like the Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Project will be game-changing for the Tasmanian economy and it is a key part of our infrastructure pipeline that will reach more than $30 billion over the next decade.
“It’s really exciting to already see the work already underway here at Macquarie Point to prepare the site and get works going in anticipation of a new stadium and the Tasmanian Devils AFL and AFLW teams.
“As part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we are creating jobs in every sector to keep our economy strong.
“As the Premier has said, there is no better friend of those who wear high vis and hard hats than our Tasmanian Liberal Government.”
