4 December 2025
Jane Howlett, Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events
Tasmania’s tourism sector is experiencing strong momentum with record visitation figures for winter 2025 and a positive outlook for summer 2025-26.
Tourism industry operators are being invited to submit their winter offers for Off Season 2026, with planning currently underway to support visitation well into next year.
Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, Jane Howlett, said the latest visitation figures show the Off Season campaign is working to support Tasmania’s tourism industry throughout winter and year-round.
“Tasmania welcomed 339,800 visitors throughout the cooler months of May – August this year, a record number for winter,” Minister Howlett said.
“These visitors spent $701.26 million while travelling the state, an increase of 8.1 per cent compared to last year.
“Tourism and hospitality business and events organisers can get behind the Off Season once again by submitting a unique winter offer so we can continue this collaborative success in 2026.”
Tourism contributes $4.5 billion to Tasmania’s Gross State Product and supports one in six Tasmanian jobs.
The Tasmanian Government is working together with industry to grow the state’s job-rich visitor economy and keep Tasmania moving forward.
Special winter offers as part of the Off Season 2026 will be available for travellers booking from February, with a large-scale campaign launching in March.
Visitors can redeem their Off Season offers between May and August 2026.
Tourism, hospitality and events operators have from now until March 2026 to submit their winter offers to be part of Off Season 2026.
The first round of submissions received by 12 December 2025 will be considered for featured advertisements in the campaign.
