Guy Barnett, Attorney-General

The development application for the new Burnie Courts Complex has been submitted to the Burnie City Council, marking a significant milestone for this important project.

The new Burnie Courts Complex will improve access to justice in the North and North West of the State.

Attorney-General Guy Barnett said submitting the development application is an important next step for this significant project.

“Not only will the Burnie Courts Complex deliver modern and fit-for-purpose facilities, it will also create and support local jobs,” the Attorney-General said.

“The development application will be available on the Burnie City Council website for Tasmanians to view.”

Work is also underway to appoint a contractor to undertake enabling works to prepare the site at 100-106 Wilson Street, Burnie, for the new courts complex.

The enabling works will include the demolition and removal of existing buildings and infrastructure at the site.

More information about the project will be made available via the Burnie Courts Complex Relocation project webpage
