Tasmanian businesses are being invited to help shape the development of the new Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2030.
Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said the Strategy would build on Tasmania’s proven strengths and position the State to seize new global opportunities.
“Tasmanian businesses are at the forefront of our trade success – they are producing world-class products and services that carry our brand to markets across Australia and around the globe,” Minister Barnett said.
"That is why their insights and ideas are central in shaping this strategy, which will set the direction for the State’s export growth and international engagement over the next five years.
“The new Strategy will build on the achievements of the 2019–2025 Trade Strategy, which opened new markets, supported business expansion, created jobs and strengthened our economy.
"Now, we want to ensure Tasmania is well-positioned to meet future challenges and capture emerging opportunities.”
The consultation process will provide opportunities for businesses and the community to contribute through an online survey, dedicated industry roundtables, and direct engagement with exporters, peak bodies and regional stakeholders.
Consultation will remain open until 30 September 2025, with regional roundtables scheduled throughout September in Launceston, St Helens, Burnie and Hobart.
“Tasmania has what the world wants – from premium food and beverages to advanced manufacturing, cutting-edge technology, and world-class tourism experiences,” Minister Barnett said.
“Whether you’re a business owner, industry leader, or simply someone passionate about Tasmania’s future, this is your chance to help shape our global engagement and future economic growth.
“We’re backing Tasmanian businesses to succeed on the global stage, and this consultation will ensure our approach is informed by the expertise, ambition and vision of those driving our economy.”
