More access to training and work opportunities for underrepresented Tasmanians is now available through 10 organisations across the State.

The Workforce Participation and Training Program has injected $3.5 million into Tasmanian organisations that support those who are underrepresented in the workforce to connect with training and pathways to employment.

Minister for Skills and Jobs, Felix Ellis, said we are investing in Tasmanians, especially those who’ve been left out of traditional employment pathways or are facing barriers to training and jobs.

“This program supports community-led projects that deliver real skills, real support, and real jobs,” Minister Ellis said.

“We are working together to move our State forward by breaking down barriers and ensuring more Tasmanian have work and training opportunities.”

City Mission’s Mission 2 a Future program is among the 10 projects funded through the grant program, with almost $400,000 to continue the one-of-a-kind mentoring program.

“There are projects across the State being supported, including the Fit Work Program in the North West and Troublesmiths’ Work Readiness Training in the South.

“Our Government delivering for Tasmanians by working together with community and training organisations to support more Tasmanians into training and employment pathways,” Minister Ellis said.

“The Workforce Participation and Training Program is an investment in our people.

“We are breaking down barriers and enabling more Tasmanians to enter and stay in the workforce.

“Together, we’re helping Tasmanians with the challenges they face, with compassion and commonsense.”
