Nic Street, Minister for Sport and Events
Applications are now open for the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Coaching Scholarships, with scholarship opportunities spanning across a range of categories.
Developed with support of Women’s Sport and Recreation Tasmania and Paralympics Australia, coaching scholarships are available for Para Coaching Support, Female Coaching Support, and General Coaching Scholarships.
Minister for Sport and Events, Nic Street, said the scholarship opportunities were integral to Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Strategy.
“The TIS Coaching Scholarships aim to identify and support coaches within Tasmania, ensuring we are well-prepared for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, and beyond,” Minister Street said.
“The newly introduced Para Coaching Support category complements the existing scholarship programs, ensuring Tasmanian athletes have access to top tier coaching as they prepare for future challenges.”
Minister Street said up to six Tasmanian coaches would have the opportunity to develop and advance within the high-performance sporting pathway.
“These scholarships offer a bespoke program of activities designed to support and develop coaches,” Minister Street said.
“This can include formal training and accreditation, placements with elite and professional sports organisations and structured learning about modern coaching concepts.
“The Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is all about ensuring the resources people need to live, work and raise a family in our state are available. These scholarships are part of making that a reality.”
Scholarship applications close on 18 October, with successful applicants to be advised in November.
Applications will be assessed by an independent panel, and the TIS will deliver the scholarship program once awarded.
