Michael Ferguson, Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs
The Tasmanian Liberal Government backs in our small businesses as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
Our unwavering commitment to small businesses is further reinforced with confirmation of a signed funding deed between the Tasmanian Small Business Council and the Tasmanian Government.
The Tasmanian Government is funding the Tasmanian Small Business Council (TSBC), the peak representative body for Tasmanian small businesses, helping it to continue its important work.
The TSBC will receive $65,000 annually over four years to support the ongoing advocacy and representation it provides for Tasmanian small businesses.
Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs, Michael Ferguson, said the TSBC had been a tireless advocate for Tasmania’s small business community.
“The TSBC has been a strong representative voice for Tasmanian small businesses for many years,” he said.
“It has represented Tasmanian businesses in many forums, including on the Council of Small Business of Australia, and is a valued partner of the Tasmanian Government.
“This funding recognises the valuable contribution the TSBC has made and will continue to deliver into the future. I look forward to continuing our partnership with the TSBC in making Tasmania a great place to do business.”
In recent years, the TSBC has led a buy local campaign, provided cybersecurity information sessions for small businesses, and worked with the Tasmanian Government in efforts to reduce red tape.
The TSBC is also a partner organisation for the Small Business Growth Strategy 2026 and associated implementation plan, which sets out the Government’s plan for the small business sector and the activities underway targeting strategy objectives.
TSBC Executive Officer, Robert Mallett, welcomed the Government’s ongoing support.
“This funding will assist the Tasmanian Small Business Council to continue to deliver advocacy on behalf of the small business sector and we are pleased that our work is strongly supported by the Tasmanian Government.” Mr Mallett said.
