Jo Palmer, Minister for Education
The construction of new classrooms for Years 5 and 6 students at Bowen Road Primary School is now underway.
The two new classrooms will replace learning areas that were destroyed by a fire in late 2022.
The fire also significantly damaged the school library, which was refurbished and reopened in mid-2023.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the $2.3 million classroom replacement project includes a new multi-purpose space and student bathrooms.
“The school’s students and staff deserve these new facilities, having shown amazing resilience following the fire,” Minister Palmer said.
“I look forward to visiting the school in the new year and seeing the spaces in use.”
Building new and improved schools right across our State is a key part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
The Bowen Road Primary School project has been designed by MANA Architects in collaboration with the school and the project team.
Fairbrother Construction commenced the works this month, with completion expected in March 2025.
