Plans for a five-star, 190-room designer hotel in Launceston is another strong sign of confidence in our tourism and hospitality industry.
Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Jeremy Rockliff, congratulated Creative Property Holdings on the Paterson Street project.
“As part of the Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are growing our $3.5 billion visitor economy and strengthening our regional diversification,” Premier Rockliff said.
“This project will create local jobs, inject $212 million into our economy and further cement Tasmania’s reputation as a year-round tourist destination.
“The private sector plays an important role in our tourism and hospitality sector, and I want to acknowledge Creative Holdings commitment to Northern Tasmania.”
Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality industry sector is globally competitive, with the State receiving national and international recognition for top tier experiences on offer.
“With an award-winning food, wine, and spirits scene, as well as Agrarian Kitchen being Australia’s Best Restaurant, Devonport named Australia’s Top Tourism Town, wukalina Walk listed in the TIME’s World’s Greatest Places, the Tasman Hotel bring named one of the World’s 50 Best Hotels, and Tasmania making New York Times Best Places to Visit list, our island is quickly becoming the nation’s standout state,” Premier Rockliff said.
"The Government is taking action to strengthen the visitor economy, as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, with the $50 million Regional Tourism Loan Scheme open to operators.
“We are also investing an additional $12 million into the 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy, which outlines our plan to grow the visitor economy and manage that growth sustainably.”
