Three highly successful Tasmanians will each play important roles in the 2024 AFL Grand Final on Saturday.

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan is a Tasmanian Football Hall of Famer.

Born in Queenstown, Fagan knows the true grit of Tasmanian football, playing on the infamous gravel oval as a junior representing the Lyell-Gormanston Football Club.

Burnie’s Robbie Fox will don the red and white on Grand Final day after overcoming a hamstring injury to get a guernsey for the big game.

Drafted to Sydney as a rookie in 2016, the former Burnie Docker is known for his versatility.

But Fox won’t be the only Tasmanian on the ground, with umpire Nick Foot officiating his first Grand Final.

Foot has umpired 238 games, including eight finals, and this week got the call up for the AFL’s biggest day.

Minister for Sport and Events, Nic Street, congratulated the three men on achieving the pinnacle in their fields.

“Chris, Robbie and Nick are typical Tasmanians, quietly pursuing the extraordinary through determination and hard work,” Minister Street said.

“While our Tassie Devils are still a few years away from joining the competition, the Grand Final will be a proud day for all Tasmanians.

“Chris, Robbie and Nick are an inspiration to us all.

“Whoever you back on Grand Final day, I think we can all agree these three Tasmanians have our support and admiration."
