The Just Healthy Families Program has been expanded under the 2024-25 Budget.
The program is vitally important, providing for easier access to legal advice for those impacted by family violence.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, said that this program has been highly successful.
“The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of the Just Healthy Families Program – and we have delivered further investment to see it continue to succeed,” the Attorney-General said.
“Through the 2024-25 Budget the Tasmanian Government has invested $1.2 million to ensure this service can continue for four more years.
“Tasmania Legal Aid, Women’s Legal Service Tasmania work in partnership with the Child Health Parenting Service, our Child and Family Learning Centres and the Hobart’s Women’s Shelter ensuring this service is being utilised by Tasmanians who need it most."
Minister for Women and the Prevention of Family Violence, Madeleine Ogilvie, said that ending family violence in our communities is a matter of national importance.
“We are serious about achieving our vision of a Tasmania where everyone is safe at home and living within a community that is free from all forms of family and sexual violence,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“This investment to expand the Just Healthy Families Program is just one component of our enormous efforts to achieve this overarching goal.
“We are continuing the implementation of our $100 million Family and Sexual Violence Action Plan: Survivors at the Centre 2022-2027.
“The Tasmanian Government wants to see our beautiful State flourish under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future – and a home free from family and sexual violence is a non-negotiable.”
