Guy Barnett, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing
Mental Health Week this year is on between 5-13 October, with events being held right across the State.
This year’s theme of ‘Appreciate the little things’ encourages Tasmanians to tap into their individual strengths, to understand, value, and take charge of their own mental health and wellbeing.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Guy Barnett, said that mental health is one of the most important factors to a healthy, happy life.
“The importance of understanding what we need for our wellbeing, caring for ourselves and importantly working to ensure we all feel safe, supported, and connected in our communities should not be underestimated,” Minister Barnett said.
“Our Government is proud to support the Mental Health Council of Tasmania as a key stakeholder and partner in the mental health sector and to support Mental Health Week and its Small Grants program.
“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re making significant investments into key services, staffing and infrastructure to ensure that Tasmanians across the State can receive the care and support that they deserve.
“It is our aim to create a person-centred, adaptable, and flexible system that allows all Tasmanians to access the care that best suits them.”
To help celebrate Mental Health Week, there are multiple events being held across the state from dog walking, educational workshops, art, poetry, bbqs and movie nights.
