Jo Palmer, Minister for Education

Today is World Teachers’ Day, a day to celebrate and thank teachers for all the work they do to educate, inspire, care for and empower our learners.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, expressed the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s deep appreciation for teachers and the support and dedication they provide to our children and young people.

“As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day, I want to recognise and thank the teachers who have dedicated themselves to educating the next generation,” Minister Palmer said.

“Teachers play such an important role by giving the gift of learning, and we are fortunate to have such amazing and passionate teachers here in Tasmania.

“Teachers have the potential to change the trajectory of a young person’s life and the quality teaching they provide makes a massive contribution to Tasmanian children reaching their full potential.”

This year’s World Teachers’ Day theme is Hats Off to Teachers, highlighting Australia’s respect and admiration for the teaching profession.

As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we’re investing in our teachers, including providing incentives to attract teachers to hard-to-staff schools, providing the resources they need to improve literacy outcomes and recruiting additional maths and science teachers.

World Teachers’ Day is an initiative of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership.
