Bicheno Food and Wine Festival a sell-out success

Tasmania’s events calendar is looking strong as we head into our peak summer period with thousands of people today enjoying this year’s sold-out Bicheno Food and Wine Festival.

Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said he was thrilled to announce funding of $70,000 to support the delivery of this year’s event as well as securing the 2025 and 2026 events.

“The Bicheno Food and Wine Festival highlights and promotes Bicheno and the surrounding region as a desirable destination for people to visit,” Minister Duigan said.

“We know driving visitation to our regions is important, and that’s why the Government has committed some $68 million over the next four years to support our events sector.

“In 2023-24, for every dollar contributed by the Tasmanian Government to support events, the return on investment was 5:1.”

Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is about ensuring our regions can deliver the best of what our state has to offer locals and tourists alike, which is exactly what this event does.

The Bicheno Food and Wine Festival celebrates the East Coast of Tasmania’s world-class food and beverage offerings.

This year’s festival features 33 Tasmanian food and drink stalls join several local music acts and roving performers at Lions Park.

“It’s great to see demand for regional festivals,” Minister Duigan said.

“Looking further afield, I am also pleased to announce our continued support of some of Tasmania’s other much-loved events, particularly in the north.

“We have committed a total of $1.285 million to support the iconic Festivale to deliver three events from 2025 to 2027, and $150,000 to support the delivery of Launceston’s BeerFest from 2024 to 2026.

“In addition, we have committed a total of $300,000 to deliver one round of the Australian Rally Championship in Tasmania each year from 2025 to 2027.

“It’s safe to say the Tasmanian events calendar is looking strong for 2025 and beyond,” he said.
