Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs

Tasmanian small businesses looking for expert advice can now access support through a new round of the popular Small Business Advice and Financial Guidance Program.

Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie, announced round four of the Program was now open, with up to $275,000 of total funding available.

“There is no stronger supporter of Tasmania’s 41,000 small businesses than the Tasmanian Liberal Government,” Minister Ogilvie said.

"This grant program has already assisted more than 1000 businesses since the first round was launched in 2021, and I’m excited to now invite small business operators to apply for round four grants.

"Grants of between $1000 and $1500 are available for eligible small businesses to access financial or business guidance services from specialist financial advisors or business consultants.”

Eligible support may include financial and business planning to assist with growth or recovery, risk management, business transition, product innovation and cash flow management.

Minister Ogilvie said the popularity of the program was evident in the fast uptake of grants in the last round.

"Our Government is providing the support small businesses need, with the previous round of this grant program closing ahead of schedule because funds were fully allocated," Minister Ogilvie said.

“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are making it easier for our small businesses to do business.

“This includes delivering a $300 energy credit for every small business in Tasmania, cutting red tape by introducing single form tendering, investing in co-contribution grants for capital upgrades and supporting the Small Business Council.”

Applications for round four are open until 30 May 2025 or until funding has been fully allocated, whichever occurs first.
