Nick Duigan, Minister for Energy and Renewables
Tasmania’s renewable energy future has become the latest victim of Labor’s shameless attempt to kowtow to inner-city Mainland voters.
The Robbins Island Wind Farm will generate hundreds of jobs, hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity and help Tasmania keep our power prices the lowest in the nation.
Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan highlighted the incredibly disappointing news that those developing the project have been told that the assessment of their project under federal environmental laws would be further delayed as Labor again refused to make a decision.
“First, they came for our aquaculture industry and the thousands of jobs it supports,” Minister Duigan said.
“Then they came for our West Coast mining sector, which has been sustainably operating to a world-class standard for generations.
“Now, with revelations that Labor is delaying a decision on the Robbins Island Wind Farm for months, Tasmanians have every right to ask the question:
“What about us?
“At what point does Labor, both State and Federal, decide that Tasmanian jobs and Tasmanian families are as valuable as inner-city votes on the Mainland?
“This cynical attempt to hoodwink Tasmanians, and remove salmon, mining and energy as election issues is as transparent as it is shallow.
“Tasmanians have not forgotten the damage that was wrought on our economy the last time that those on the far left were allowed to mercilessly attack our productive industries.
“And we won’t be allowing it to happen again.”
In stark contrast, the Tasmanian Government will continue to back our productive industries and slash red tape, under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
