Jeremy Rockliff, Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality

Renowned chefs and fresh Tasmanian produce were the major drawcards for this year’s Tassie Scallop Fiesta.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff officially opened the 2024 event, which hosted live entertainment, chef demonstrations, masterclasses, the famous scallop pie competition and scallop splitters challenge.

Special guest John McFadden, who has been named the world’s best seafood chef, and the North West’s Josh 'Pezza' Perry hosted chef demonstrations.

Premier Rockliff said now in its seventh year, the Fiesta is one of the highlights on the winter events calendar in Northern Tasmania.

“The celebration of our premium produce and maritime and fishing heritage make the Scallop Fiesta a must-visit event,” Premier Rockliff said.

“The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of regional tourism, investing $60,000 to assist the delivery of the Fiesta from 2022 to 2024.

“We want to continue to build Tasmania’s reputation as an all-year round destination, and supporting regional tourism helps strengthen this position.

“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are working with event organisers of the Scallop Fiesta, Bicheno Food and Wine Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Tasmanian Craft Fair, Taste of the Huon and TrailGraze to secure the future of these regional events.”

The tourism and hospitality sector employs one in eight Tasmanians, and our Government is backing these job-creating, economy-boosting industries by sustainably growing visitation across the State.
