Guy Barnett, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has expanded our healthcare recruitment raid to Queensland and NSW, as we continue to pull out all the stops to boost our healthcare workforce across the State.

This week, full-page ads have run in The Courier Mail, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Daily Telegraph calling on health workers to relocate to Tasmania and take advantage of everything our State has to offer.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Guy Barnett, said this is more proof the Tasmanian Government is pulling out all the stops to recruit more workers into our healthcare system.

“Under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future we have already recruited over 660 new healthcare workers – but we want to recruit even more,” Minister Barnett said.

"We are undertaking the largest ever recruitment blitz of healthcare workers in Tasmania's history and following our raid on healthcare workers sacked by the Victorian Labor Government, we’re broadening the horizon.

“These new full-page ads in masthead papers are sending a clear message to healthcare workers in New South Wales and Queensland - we want you in Tassie.

“We’re backing that in with significant financial incentives on the table of up to $15,000 for nurses, and $100,000 for GPs – to not only bring them here but keep them here.

“There’s no doubt that Tasmania is the best place to live, work and raise a family, and we’ll continue to promote our State to the nation and the world as we build the health workforce Tasmania needs.

“Under our Government there is set to be even more nurses, doctors, paramedics and more – and as we implement our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, I look forward to bringing more positive updates.”
