A range of new facilities, including an outdoor learning area and play equipment, have been delivered for students and staff at Hillcrest Primary School.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said it was fantastic to visit the school to meet students who are enjoying the improvements.
“The students now have access to a new nature-based play area, mud kitchen, slide, seesaw and swings, where they can connect, learn and thrive,” Minister Palmer said.
“Our Government is committed to delivering the best possible facilities for students and supporting the long-term future of Hillcrest Primary School and its community.”
The Tasmanian Government provided $1 million for the works, which include new shade sails, landscaping, fencing and sports courts resurfacing and repainting.
Liberal Member for Braddon, Roger Jaensch, said one of the exciting new features are the murals.
“These vibrant murals are colourful and eye-catching, featuring a range of native flora and fauna,” Mr Jaensch said.
“Our schools deserve contemporary and positive environments that help students achieve their best.”
Hillcrest Primary School Principal, Georgia Perry, said families have welcomed the new facilities, particularly the outdoor learning areas.
“Some of the existing facilities are original when the school was built in 1983, and the improvements that have been made help ensure we continue providing high quality learning at our school for the next 40 years and beyond,” Mrs Perry said.
The Tasmanian Government has committed $10 million to playground and sports courts upgrades in schools across the State, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
