Visitors to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens will soon benefit from new amenities that will improve accessibility and the visitor experience.
Minister for Parks and Environment, Nick Duigan, said the extensive refurbishment and new amenities are a result of the Tasmanian Government’s $7.6 million investment.
“I’m incredibly pleased to announce the refurbishment works to the Gardens’ visitor centre has commenced and is expected to be completed in November this year,” Minister Duigan said.
“In addition, the Gardens are set to become more accessible with works to commence in September to improve the carriageway entrance with the development of an elevated pedestrian path, new lighting and improved disability parking.
The construction of new amenities near the main entrance is also planned to begin in early 2025.
“These works will include a new gift shop, as an improved welcome point for visitors, with a striking new Tasmanian flora collection display,” Minister Duigan said.
Daniel Leesong – Royal Tasmania Botanical Gardens chair said as one of Tasmania’s most loved and visited attractions it is fantastic to see the upgrades underway through the support of the Tasmanian Government.
“The funding and associated works will significantly enhance the enjoyment of the gardens for visitors and locals alike,” Mr Leesong said.
Minister Duigan said these planned developments are essential for maintaining and enhancing the Gardens’ status as a premier botanical, cultural and social destination, for visitors and locals alike.
This important funding ensures the Gardens continue to enrich the visitor experience for generations to come.
