One of the top historic race meetings in Australia is set to return this year for another thrilling event, consisting of 51 races over two days.
The 2024 Baskerville Historics event is scheduled to take place from 31 October to 3 November at Baskerville Raceway.
Minister for Sport and Events, Nic Street, said it was exciting to attend the event last night.
“This is Tasmania’s largest locally promoted circuit racing event. The event is known for being one of the top historic race meetings in Australia,” Minister Street said.
“I have no doubt that Tasmanian and interstate motorsport enthusiasts will embrace the chance to be part of the action-packed weekend.”
The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of the event, backing Motorsports Tasmania with $105,000 in funding to assist with the planning and delivery of the event from 2022 to 2024.
“We are committed to supporting motorsport events in Tasmania as they provide significant social and economic benefits to our state,” Minister Street said.
“Motorsport in Tasmania has a dedicated following, proven by our support of events through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, such as the Supercars, Targa Tasmania, Race Tasmania, and other speedway and rally events.”
These events attract tens of thousands of spectators, and hundreds of thousands of viewings through television broadcast and on social media.
“I’d like to also take this opportunity to thank Tasmanian motor racing legend Bruce Gowan for supporting this fantastic event,” Minister Street said.
“Thank you also to the Baskerville Foundation Team and volunteers for their hard work and dedication to bring this event to life. I look forward to seeing this event’s success once again.”
