Eric Abetz,
Leader of the House,
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering the stable, collaborative government that Tasmanians voted for, and we are continuing to work hard to create a functioning Parliament.
This was on full display this week with six (6) bills progressed through the House of Assembly, including:
- Forestry (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2024;
- Asbestos-Related Diseases (Occupational Exposure) Compensation Amendment Bill 2024;
- Industrial Hemp Amendment Bill 2024;
- Justice Miscellaneous (Commission of Inquiry) Bill 2024;
- Evidence (Children and Special Witnesses) Amendment Bill 2024; and
- Justice and Related Legislation (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2024.
In contrast the Tasmanian Labor Opposition has been exposed as continuing to have no alternate plan for Tasmania – just more relentless negativity.
The week started poorly for Labor when Shadow Treasurer, Josh Willie confirmed they have no intention of putting forward any solutions for the next four years, telling the Advocate, Labor will “outline our plan for government as we get closer to the election.”
After Dean Winter appeared to commit to a fresh approach to make Parliament as productive as possible. This seems to have completely gone out the window – along with all the Labor policies.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future provides the certainty and stability Tasmania needs, while taking action on the issues affecting Tasmanians right now.
Meanwhile, after ten years in opposition, Labor still don’t have a plan for Tasmania, just relentless negativity.
