Investing in Motor Neurone Disease research and care

The Tasmanian Government is delivering a significant investment of $831,000 to support efforts to combat motor neurone disease (MND), strengthening research, clinical trials, care for those living with MND and community awareness.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the 2026-27 Budget is delivering a strong economy and caring community.

“This funding will support vital research into the causes and potential treatments for MND, while also backing clinical trials that offer new hope to those living with the disease,” Premier Rockliff said.

“The investment will be delivered over three years and will boost awareness initiatives, ensuring more Tasmanians understand MND, its impact, and the importance of early support and care.”

Motor neurone disease is a devastating condition that affects the nerve cells controlling movement, with no known cure.

Premier Rockliff said the Budget ensures our economy continues to be strong, resilient and well positioned for the future.

“It gives us the headroom to handle the challenges ahead, while continuing to invest in critical initiatives like MND research.
