Largest ever Tasmania Fire Service recruit course gets underway

The Tasmania Fire Service has recently commenced its latest recruit trainee course, with 30 new recruits currently undergoing rigorous training as part of the Government’s plan to keep Tasmanians safe.

This is the largest recruit cohort in the history of the Tasmania Fire Service, and will further enhance Tasmania’s capacity to protect communities.

The trainees have been through a comprehensive selection process, and come with a diverse range of professional backgrounds including military, trades, a paramedic student, sports management and retail.

Once they complete the 15-week course in June, the new firefighters will be stationed across Tasmania and will boost career firefighting numbers to 355, the highest number in ten years.

The Government will continue to support our career and volunteer firefighters to ensure that they have the equipment, resources and facilities that they need to keep our communities safe.
