Tasmanians are being encouraged to ‘Burn Brighter This Winter’ to reduce wood smoke pollution.
During the cold winter months, wood heaters are a popular and efficient source of keeping our homes heated, but we know that burning without a flame or smouldering can cause excessive smoke which can get trapped by cold air and linger in the air around our homes and neighbourhoods.
The health and safety of Tasmanians is our number one priority and reducing excessive smoke in the environment will help to ease any harmful impacts on Tasmanians with existing health conditions such as asthma.
The annual ‘Burn Brighter This Winter’ campaign provides easy-to-follow advice about how wood heaters can be operated to reduce smoke emissions.
