Boosting regional hospitality businesses and supporting Events

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing in regional Tasmania through the launch of our new $8 million Events Support and Attraction Fund and our $1 million Regional Hospitality Revival Fund.

This marks the delivery on two important commitments outlined in our First 100 Day Plan.

Funding applications will soon open for the $8 million Events Support and Attraction Fund, which will help draw visitors into regional Tasmanian communities and attract new events to Tasmania.

Our recent election commitment included an allocation of $2.1 million to The Unconformity and $200,000 to the Enduro World Series at Maydena, with the remaining $5.7 million funding now available for new funding applications.

The Fund will support Events Tasmania to actively target and secure events that deliver the greatest return on investment, as well as a support a wide range of events through its successful Major Events Partnership Program.

While we know the current COVID-19 environment is challenging for events, this investment will ensure organisers are supported to continue being innovative and creative.

Applications will be assessed on an ongoing basis by Events Tasmania, with event organisers encouraged to explore this new fund and engage with Events Tasmania.

More information is available on the Events Tasmania website at www.eventstasmania.com/grants_and_funding

In addition, the Government recognises that our regional hospitality businesses are the lifeblood of the communities they operate in and they also help attract visitors to regional Tasmania.

That’s why applications will soon opene for the $1 million Regional Hospitality Revival Fund, which offers one-off rebate payments of up to $1,500 to support hospitality businesses outside of Hobart and Launceston to attract visitors into the regions.

Eligible businesses can apply for funding to assist meet the costs associated with live performances, event staging, minor works, marketing and promotion, or other initiatives that contribute to the revival of their business and help bring visitors into their region.

Guidelines are available at www.business.tas.gov.au and applications open on Monday 23 August 2021.
