Tasmanians have proven today that if you bring the big matches to our State, Tasmanians will turn up, with tickets to the do or die AFL elimination final this Saturday between the Sydney Swans and the GWS Giants selling out in a matter of hours.
The Western Bulldogs and Essendon Bombers match also sold out earlier today with tickets to that match snapped up within two hours of going on sale.
We’re already hearing that local businesses are benefitting from the interest in the matches, especially accommodation providers, with Tasmanians from the South and North West keen to travel for the matches.
Saturday’s match will be particularly exciting, with the possibility of Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin kicking his 1000th career goal, and Tasmanians having the opportunity to witness this incredible achievement.
